What was the highlight of Hotel Tenpyo Naramachi
Great hotel and facilities, but the sound made the stay NOT worth it.
The location is amazing, walking distance from Nara train station, as well as a stone's throw away from a lively street filled with shopping, street food, and restaurants. Also a short walk away from the heart of Nara Park and the deer! Decent public bath in the basement as well.
I had a terrible time sleeping here. First of all, I'm not sure if this is because our room was in a corner, but the walls were paper thin. We would hear people outside all night! We initially thought a window or something was open because that's how clear the sound was. We could also hear the people in the room below us, clearly enough to hear the words they were saying if we listened. Lastly, there is a clock tower across the street...it goes off LOUDLY at midnight and 6 am..woke me both times.

猿沢池のお隣で、駅にも近く、観光や食事にはとても便利だった。
①シーツが化繊で、気持ち悪く、ほとんど眠れなかった。バックパッカーが泊まるような安宿ならともかく、この値段のホテルで、このシーツは、いかがなものか。 ②部屋の中に不必要な段差がある。ベッドルームからクローゼットスペースに-１０cm、トイレにプラス１５cmと訳のわからない段差があり、６０代以上には非常に不快と思われれる。お勧めはできない。 ③トイレの奥にシャワー室があるが、トイレに手洗いをする場所がなく、顔も洗えない。いちいちシャワーを浴びろとでも？！ ④なぜか、ベッドルームに手洗いの水栓があるが、お水しか出なく、真冬でなかったから良かったものの、いろんな国に行っているが、ホテルの洗面ボウルで、お水しか出ないホテルは初めて。ありえない。 ⑤２泊したのだが、チェックイン時に清掃するかとか、色々聞かれて、いかにも清掃は要らないと言えというような質問の仕方に呆れた。ホテルなら、清掃は当然で、必要ないなら、Do not disturbの札を客は出すから聞く必要もないと思う。少なくとも清掃やシーツの交換は不要という方向に誘導するような質問の仕方は不愉快。 同行のフランス人夫妻もシーツがかなり不快で眠れず、上記のような事にかなり驚いていた。希望の奈良ホテルやふふが取れず、ロケーションと新しいホテルということで予約したが、ロケーション以外は、かなりがっかりだった。
